In life, it is often said that "you can never have too much of a good thing." Apparently, this is not so when it comes to RAM (Random Access Memory - also referred to as simply "memory" or storage) for your laptop or computer! No need to spend money on extra RAM that your system cannot utilize. (You can easily check the specifications of the system you are considering by asking how much memory is already installed, and what the maximum memory capacity is for the system.) But how can you be certain you have enough computer memory not only for your current needs, but for what your future needs may be, too? Let's start at the beginning...how much computer memory do you need?"
When buying a computer or laptop, the available memory on that system should be a primary consideration, because the more you do, the more memory you need! The applications you use dictate how much memory you need for the best possible performance, the smoothest graphics and the speediest downloads. RAM is used every time you open an application, download, play a game or video - even turning on your computer requires RAM.
Peripherals such as webcams, digital cameras, DVD players and USB hard drives require more RAM. These requirements, coupled with complicated web pages and PC-based video games may surprise you in that you have significantly less RAM than you thought. Therefore, buy the most RAM you can afford; more RAM makes for a speedier computer. Today, available PC systems range from 512MB (which is the bare minimum) to 4GB of memory.
If you already have a computer and are considering a memory upgrade, review the manuals that came with your computer or motherboard. Included in the documentation are the specifications for the memory supported. This is important because it will list exactly the type, size and number of memory modules that are supported. (Most retailers and/or manufacturers have this information, too.)
Buy as few modules as possible for the amount of memory you want to install; this will aid in future system upgrades. (For example, if you have 3 memory slots on your computer, one of which has a 1GB module in it, it is smarter to buy another 1GB module to get to 2GB of total memory verses purchasing two 512MB modules.)
To give you some idea of RAM requirements, according to a 2009 pcstats.com article, Windows Vista Basic requires a minimum of 512MB, though they advise that realistically, that number should be doubled. In fact, the article states that "Vista will function with 512MB system RAM, but the ride is a rough one!" While Microsoft recommends Vista computers ship with 1GB memory, 2GB of RAM is generally considered the best option for Windows Vista.
The easiest ways to boost performance for any PC is to add memory (RAM) to the system. Before purchasing that memory upgrade, however, remember to verify what type of memory your computer uses, the memory module sizes and what already exists in the system. If you are buying a new system, look for the maximum RAM available.

Sony Ericsson K800i

My favourite phone of 2006 was the Sony Ericsson K800i, and that’s why I’m extra happy that Sony Ericsson is about to release a successor to that brilliant phone. The Sony Ericsson K850i features a 5 megapixel camera with a xenon flash, no optical zoom on this one either - but if it takes as good picures as the K800i, then the camera function in this one will rock.
Sony Cybershot DSC-G1

The new Cybershot DSC-G1 from Sony features some cool WiFi functionality that has been available in some Nikon Coolpix cameras for a while, and that is something that is typical for the digital camera race that is going on.If we forget about the WiFi for a few seconds, the Sony Cybershot DSC-G1 is a pretty standard 6.0 megapixel point and shoot camera featuring 3X optical zoom and a nice big 3.5 inch display. The camera will cost $599 and be out in April.
SONY DEBUTS ITS FIRST WIRELESS CYBER-SHOT DIGITAL CAMERA :
The G1 model is Sony’s first digital camera with the ability to send photos wirelessly to other Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-enabled devices, such as another camera or a PC.
One-Touch Wireless Photo Sharing and Archiving :
The G1 model features a 3.5-inch LCD screen with resolution of 921,000 pixels. Lubell said that’s four times higher than the average compact digital camera and all previous Sony Cyber-shot models. The new camera’s slide show with music function makes sharing photos directly on the camera even more enjoyable.
Mega Storage Capacity and Sophisticated Image Management :
The G1 unit is the ideal vacation camera with 2GB of internal memory, saving you from having to manage extra media cards. It becomes a virtual photo album in your pocket as it can store up to 7,500 VGA-quality photos or 600 6-megapixel pictures. If additional storage is needed, the camera’s capacity can be expanded with an optional Memory Stick Duo ™ media card or Memory Stick PRO Duo ™ card, now available in capacities up to eight gigabytes.
You can organize your photos by events, such as vacations or birthdays, and retrieve them later by keywords or labels.
his new Cyber-shot model also features a distinctive design. Its Carl Zeiss® 3x optical zoom lens is wrapped in an elegant metal body. You slide the lens cover across, instead of down as with previous models, and you’re ready to shoot in less than a second.

Xbox with a 360 hole

Here’s a neat little PR trick from a company called Waterjets. They have used their water cutting technology to cut a hole in a Xbox 360, and cut a prototype Xbox into an “X”.
Samsung SCH-B600

Samsung is calling "the world's first super camera phone," the Samsung SCH-B600. That's a 10-megapixel digital camera in there, and the lens is long enough to let it zoom 3x optically. A neat trick: the phone is 6mm thinner and 10g lighter than Samsung's 7-megapixel V770 camera phone it introduced last year. It works just like a regular digital camera, too, with autofocus, a 2.2-inch 240x320 LCD display and video at 320x240 and 30fps.

Jays Bluetreamer

Swedish JAYS launches the world’s first Bluetooth 2.0+edr stereo adapter with headset functionality, the JAYS BlueStreamer. It is being sold together with j-JAYS in-ear earphones for only 695 SEK incl. VAT. With the BlueStreamer you can listen to your favorite music in the earphones of your choice – from an mp3-player via cord or wirelessly from a mobile phone – and still answer incoming phone calls in the headset. It can also be used for Skype through a Bluetooth-equipped computer. The BlueStreamer uses a common AAA-battery that can easily be changed by the user – external loading devices are not needed. The BlueStreamer will be available with resellers and at www.jays.se in January.
“There is a clear wireless trend, but people seek better characteristics with regards to sound, battery and price. The potential for low-cost headsets where one can be reached by phone and simultaneously enjoy one’s iPod with any earphones is enormous. In noisy environments most people appreciate a stereo headset with sound isolating earphones. Many will prefer the BlueStreamer over other solutions,” said Jens Nylander, CEO and co-founder of JAYS.

BlueStreamer is made in black rugged rubber that can be attached to your clothes or around your neck, depending on which of the two accompanying attachments is used (clips or a strap). It contains one Bluetooth-receiver, a microphone, a detachable AAA-battery and two 3,5 mm connections (one for earphones and one for mp3-players that do not support Bluetooth).
This all sums up in a BlueStreamer, a music adapter that can receive stereo music wirelessly from the mobile or from an mp3-player via a cord, and simultaneously interrupt the music to answer a phone call. Any earphones with 3,5 mm connection and any mobile phones supporting A2DP, AVRCP, headset and a handsfree-profile can be used. The front has an answer button and on the sides are controls for the volume and song selection.
The BlueStreamer is sold with j-JAYS new in-ear earphones together with a 60 cm cord for only 695 SEK incl. VAT. This is considerably less than the few stereo Bluetooth headsets available today, even though they use the old Bluetooth 1.2-technology. The BlueStreamer is the world’s first music stereo adapter to employ Bluetooth 2.0+edr (enhanced data rate). The new technology allows a prolonged battery time, signal stability, multi-unit connectivity and a better compatibility with the mobile phones of today and tomorrow than the earlier Bluetooth 1.2-standard.
The BlueStreamer is also the first Bluetooth stereo adapter with a detachable AAA-battery. The user can use rechargeable batteries, or simply buy a new battery which makes a separate battery charger unnecessary. The battery time is eight hours while listening to music and ten hours while talking. The BlueStreamer has the dimensions 62 X 26 X 24 mm and weighs only 20 g excluding the battery.

Nokia Aeon-Concept Phone

Nokia's research and development team have kicked it up a gear with an attractive "aeon" concept phone showing up in the R&D section of the company's website.

The most prominent design feature of aeon is a touchscreen that stretches over the full surface area of the phone, similar to BenQ-Siemens's Black box concept phone we saw recently. Currently mobile technology isn't quite up to realizing this fantasy, but we'll sleep better tonight knowing that at least one of the cellphone industry's biggest names shares the same dream as we do -- BenQ's dream didn't count, unfortunately.Looks kind of cool doesn’t it?
Sony DSC-N2

The elegant DSC-N2 camera debuts in champagne gold and is a ten-megapixel powerhouse with an extending Carl Zeiss(R) Vario Tessar(R) 3x optical zoom lens. With its built-in photo album function, this model can be a photo diary in your pocket, loaded with up to 500 of your favorite images.

Every time you snap a picture, the DSC-N2 model will store a full-resolution image on the optional media card or in the camera’s 25 MB of internal memory. Additionally, it automatically resizes that same image in VGA resolution and stores it in a portion of the camera’s internal memory dedicated to pocket album. No matter how many pictures are offloaded from the media card, you can choose to protect the images you want to keep and, over time, you have a collection of your favorite shots in the camera.
The DSC-N2 model also hits stores in October for about $450. Optional accessories include the MPK-NA marine pack for about $200, NP-FT1 InfoLithium(R) battery for about $50, and LCS-NA leather carrying case for about $50.
